IDENTIFYING THEIR TOUGHEST BUSINESS CHALLENGES.

CHRISTUS executives felt that the organization had fallen into a trap that many organizations face; they had developed a culture of being “nice.” Associates of all levels were mistaking CHRISTUS’ value of compassion with avoiding difficult and constructive feedback.

LOSING TIME AND MONEY

Revenue and time were being lost due to unproductive conversations.

LOW PRODUCTIVITY

The full potential of leaders and employees was untapped and unrealized.

CHRISTUS Health needed to:

  • Increase associate engagement and
    manager effectiveness
  • Develop the courage and ability to have
    authentic conversations
  • Enhance their corporate culture

“We needed Fierce in our organization because we needed to be better at all types of conversations, especially those awkward conversations that were important, yet they were about difficult issues.”

– Lisa Reynolds, VP of Talent Management, CHRISTUS Health

ADDRESSING THEIR PROBLEMS HEAD-ON.

Working alongside the Talent Management team at CHRISTUS, Fierce developed a leadership training that concentrated on four specific programs: Delegation, Team, Confrontation, and Coaching.

When leaders know how to delegate effectively, they assign new tasks to their teams without burdening them by asking: “In what areas do you want to grow?” This program allows CHRISTUS Associates to develop their skills, freeing up more time for leaders to contribute in the areas they’re needed most.

Bad decisions are costly, and unproductive meetings waste time. Team conversations at CHRISTUS have given leaders a way to effectively gather input from everyone on their teams. As a result, they are now more informed and equipped to make the best decisions possible.

When negative behaviors go unaddressed, they become the norm. The skills learned in Confrontation have allowed CHRISTUS executives and Associates to overcome fear and have courageous, straight-up conversations in a way that enriches the relationship while improving performance.

Coaching conversations uncovers solutions, prompts potent action, and unblocks professional paths with self-generated insights. CHRISTUS leaders have been able to avoid advice-giving mode using the Coaching model and have acquired the skills to coach their direct reports into self-discovery and positive action.

“People leave class excited and having enjoyed the session. But that’s not the only place Fierce lives and breathes; it is integrated into all other training. I think Fierce concepts have positively influnced the people who live out our culture for the rest of their lives.”

– Scott Hopkins, Director of Leadership Development, CHRISTUS Health
